Toronto zoo

The Toronto Zoo is a Canadian zoological park located in Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario. The zoo was founded on August 15, 1974. Prior to the 1998 municipal conciliations, the zoo was known as the Metropolitan Toronto Zoo. The zoo is located near the Rouge River and Rouge Park. The zoo covers an area of 287 hectares and is owned by the City of Toronto. The zoo is divided into seven geographical areas: Indo-Malaya, Africa, Americas, Canada, Australia, Eurasia and Tundra. There are over 5,000 animals representing more than 500 species.
