La Ronde is a 59-hectare amusement center located on Île Sainte-Hélène in Montreal. The theme park has been owned by Six Flags under an emphyteutic agreement with the City of Montreal since 2001. Since the launch of the park, with the 1967 World's Fair, the operation was guaranteed by the Expo Company from 1967 to 1969, and by the City of Montreal from 1969 to 2001. The center is open from mid-May to the end of October. The center, which holds exactly 42 rides and attractions, brings in approximately 1.2 million visitors each year. Many events are held in the park each year, including the Loto-Québec fireworks, since 1985. This internationally renowned fireworks challenge takes place from June to August. The Festival de la frayeur, prepared as part of Halloween, is an occasion that takes place on weekends in October.
