Fort York National Historic Site

Fort York is an English-built fort created on the site of present-day Toronto that was the subject of two American invasions during the War of 1812. Fort York is a historic site of military fortifications and related buildings west of downtown Toronto. The fortification was created by the British Army and Canadian military groups in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries to defend the new colony and modern capital of Upper Canada from further military attack primarily from the new country of the United States.
